City gives airport priority

Improvement and repair of the Teague Municipal Airport was the major discussion for the Teague City Council on Monday, Nov. 19 for the possible generation of revenue for the City.

Teague City Administrator Theresa Prasil and Teague Public Works Director Jacob Cowling met with representatives from Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) two weeks ago in order to find ways to make the city owned airport a revenue generating entity for the future of the City.

“Representatives from TxDOT had heard from the previous administration that we wanted to shut the airport down,” Prasil said. “There was never any action taken by the council and there was never any mention of it in past minutes and as of our budget workshop, we were wanting to find ways to enhance the asset that is our airport for future revenue.”
