Chamber honors citizens with annual awards
The Teague Chamber of Commerce was not able to have their annual awards banquet this year due to COVID-19.
However, they still honored citizens for their service to the community with a plaque during a come and go ceremony on Thursday afternoon, July 30, at the Teague Hotel.
“We were unable to have our annual awards banquet, but still wanted to honor our well-deserved citizens for all that they do for our community,” Chamber President Debbie Sanoja said.
Jerry Pickens won the Boyd Cup this year for his lifetime of community service to the City of Teague. The Boyd Cup recipient is selected by previous recipients and has been given out since 1927 as a lifetime achievement goal.
Pickens is a 1964 graduate of Teague High School and has been married to Norma for 51 years. Pickens served in the Army from 1967 to 1969.
