Brotherly competition is ‘Grand’

Young Cullen’s steer defeats elder Caden’s at fair

It has been a big goal for a while and it finally happened on Thursday night, June 17, for brothers Cullen and Caden Fryer, at the 2021 Freestone County Fair.

Cullen Fryer earned Grand Champion Steer and Caden Fryer earned Reserve Champion Steer.

“It had been a huge goal for the whole family,” Caden said. “I am so excited that we finally did it, especially since I just graduated and this was my final Freestone County Fair.”

Cullen, a sixth-grader, showed Bo, and Caden, a 2021 graduate of Teague High School, showed Luke. The boys named their steers after Bo and Luke on “The Dukes of Hazzard.” Both of the boys show with the Freestone 4-H.
