Bowers’ Polar Express on display for season

Forever Teague resident, Bill Bowers, brings his version of the Polar Express to life for the children of Teague and has been doing this for the last 12 years.

“I was inspired by the movie, Polar Express, and the fact that the pharmacy was selling the Department 56 collectibles at the time,” Bowers said. “This is actually the first time in about two years that I have put it up after getting a lot of calls from people asking where it was last year.”

Bowers has a huge love of trains and combines this with a love of Teague history in the train he built.

“I built the depot from scratch along with the models of the Teague Hotel, Star Theater, Bargers Grocery and the old freight depot that is no longer there anymore,” he said. “Only the old timers around here will remember the grocery store and I built that about 25 or 30 years ago.”
