Atchley brews up new coffee, shaved ice business

Julie Atchley, a 1989 graduate from Teague High School, has opened another business in town for the community to enjoy. Granna’s, a shaved ice and coffee house, opened on Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 844 US Hwy 84 next to DejaVu.

When asked what spurred her on to open a shaved ice/coffee business, Atchley said, “When the ice machine business moved to Mexia, I saw the opportunity for a new business. We were going to go with a small shaved ice business, but it has just grown into something much larger. So we decided to add more and include a coffee house as well.”

There are 20 shaved ice flavors that include bahama mama, banana, blue coconut, blue raspberry, cherry, cotton candy, dreamsicle, grape, green apple, margarita, orange, peach, pina colada, pink bubble gum, pink lemonade, silver fox, strawberry, tigers blood, watermelon, and wedding cake.
