With COVID-19 cases growing exponentially in the northeastern United States, particularly around New York City, nurses and hospital staff there found themselves surrounded by hundreds more patients each day. Overwhelmed medical staff called on the nation for more help.
Jamie West, a 2006 Mexia High School graduate working in the post-anesthesia care unit at Palestine Regional Medical Center, heeded the call.
