Abandoned home destroyed in blaze

Driving into town on U.S. Hwy 84, all you could see was a tower of black smoke rising from a structure fire at approximately 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2.

Sirens could be heard across the city as the Teague Volunteer Fire Department raced to calm the flames threatening to spread from the structure to surrounding brush.

The home was located on 1st Avenue directly next to the Antioch Memorial Cemetery.
