Senior Center News

Well I started out last Monday with a jury summons. Thanks to my husband, Roger Brooke, and a very special volunteer helper,  Joyce Teer, for covering for me at the Center. I think Joyce and Roger were praying that I would not get picked. Thanks to Verna Bozeman for the delicious,  beautifully decorated cake and Joyce Teer for the homemade banana cupcakes and assortment of cookies. Santa’s helpers surprised us with a great supply of bingo gifts last week. What a welcome sight to see Stacy with Virginia’s Hospice and Healthcare, Andrea Lopez,  Director of Marketing for Teague Nursing Home and Rehab with cookies and gifts and Joyce Teer with lots of edible prizes. If that wasn’t enough, Betty Trask with First Assembly of God in Teague phoned and said she would be bringing more prizes by Monday. Wow, never late, right on time. Thank you to Mrs. Nancy Northcutt for the homemade Fall and Christmas crocheted coasters. She is very talented and thoughtful.  We played our regular bingo last Thursday. Thanks to Sonya Bibby for her much needed help with Joyce and I in the kitchen. This Thursday, Dec. 13 we will have Guardian Home Health and Hospice from Corsicana, Nurse La Rhonda, of Corsicana, taking blood pressures and visiting everyone.

Friday was 100 percent rain, but did not dampen the speaker from Fairfield, Arne Henderson, Sr. Vice Commander of the Fairfield Post 5872. He brought an incredibly interesting and informative program on World War ll Pearl Harbor. Everett West, Heavy, was surprisingly pleased with a beautiful plaque of appreciation from VFW Post 5872.
