Peresevere through life

Everyone wants life to be smooth sailing without any obstacles coming at us. However, the truth is that there will be obstacles throughout life, some big and others small. However, it is through those obstacles that we are able to grow and become stronger in our faith in God.

Sometimes, we may wonder how we are going to make it to the next paycheck. Sometimes, we may have an argument with a friend or a family member. Sometimes, we may wonder how we are going to keep our home or how we can keep the electricity or water turned on. Sometimes, we come to bumps in our lives that we just don’t know how we can make it.

Sickness and death is something we all have to deal with in life as well. Our loved ones not feeling well due to a sickness can cause stress and anxiety. Losing loved ones in our lives is heartbreaking and takes a toll on us as well.

My brother passed away suddenly on May 12, 2006 after a motorcycle/truck accident. My grandfather passed away on August 8, 2016 after being on hospice for several months. Neither one of them were easy deaths to deal with.

I was 17 years old and a junior in high school when my brother passed away without any type of warning and I couldn’t talk to him one last time. I was nearly 28 years old when Grandbub passed away and I was able to spend a good amount of time with him before his passing. These are just two of the many deaths that I have had to experience in my life and I know I will have to experience losing more loved ones in the years to come.

Dealing with death is hard, but we must persevere through those times and grow. We have memories of our loved ones that we can always hold on to. I love taking pictures and taking pictures for others on special occasions. These pictures are what I am able to look back on and remember great times that I have had in my life with others.

There are different stages in life as well. I loved attending college at Texas A&M University and have a ton of memories that I will never forget. I have friends that I am able to stay in touch with, but not as much as I would like to. I loved being single and going and doing what I wanted to after graduating from college for eight years. I have now been married for a little over a year and I love making memories and going on adventures with my wife. All three of these are three different stages of my life that I have memories from each. I have grown in different ways throughout these various stages of my life as well.

I am so thankful for social media and text messaging to stay in contact with friends and family from day to day. With all of this being said, we grow from both the good and difficult things that happen to us in our lives. I stand firm in my faith and I am able to persevere through each day knowing that God holds my future and that I will be reunited with my loved ones one day.

This week’s Bible verse is James 1:2-4. It says ¨Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”

Throughout the rest of our lives, I pray that we will not take anything for granted. Please make sure you let your loved ones know how much they mean to you and how much you love them. We are not promised tomorrow on this earth, but we are promised tomorrow with our Heavenly Father.

My prayer for all of us this week is that we persevere through life and allow our faith to grow and always be in God. Until next week, make Him famous in all that you do.
