Observances: Did boomer generation drop the bomb?

I’m in the process of reading a book by Bruce Gibney about his view of the baby boom generation. He points out the boomers began weighing heavily in the political process in the early eighties and ending up electing the fi rst boomer president in 1992 and continued to elect them for the coming 24 years. He says it doesn’t make any difference which party they belong to [because] the general policies have been the same.

A few points he tries to make is that the handover from the greatest generation to the boomers has turned out to be one of the greatest political disasters of all time. Before the boomers the previous generation had paid off the WWII debt, built the interstate highway system, created water storage facilities and hydroelectric dams all over the nation, created NASA that was racing into space and stabilized the cold war. All this without the nation have very much of a national debt.
