We have open spots available for your child to have a “head start” into education! If your child turns 3, 4, or 5 before September 1, please apply! We have such a wonderful program that provides not only educational services to your child that are free, but also free services to families! We provide an amazing school readiness program here at Hill Country Community Action’s Head Start in Fairfield on 920 South Bateman. Our staff will be at work 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (12 p.m. to 1 p.m. lunch) Monday through Friday if you want to knock on our door and ask for an application. We can’t let anyone in the building just yet because of the COVID-19 regulations. But please, knock on our door and ask. Oakes Cemetery Association: The annual Memorial for the Oakes Cemetery Association this year has been canceled due to the COVID-19 situation.

Deadline is Saturday, Aug. 29

The Bi/Annual BTW/JA Brooks Walk-A-Thon this year will be virtual. Due to the challenges faced this year we must adjust to the “new normal”.We are asking our supporters to take a stroll around your neigh borhood or park and send the Association a donation. All funds donated will support the scholarship fund. Please send your donation on or before August 29th by check or money order payable to BTW/JA Brooks Alumni Association: P. O. Oct. 6th

5 p.m. - 8 p.m. - National Night Out at the Teague City Park. National Night out is a nationwide event. It is a community event held in over 14,000 towns and cities across America. Big community block party with a very strong theme held at the N. 8th Ave, at the Teague City Park. Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for and participation in local anticrime efforts, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community partnership, and all food, games, prizes, etc. are FREE to the public (while supplies last).
