American politics going parliamentary

The recent events in Washington indicate that a fundamental change has taken place in our system of government. We are much more beginning to resemble a parliamentary form of government with a prime minister rather than an executive branch with two branches of Congress. The oldest form of parliamentary government comes from England which our founding fathers used as the foundation for the Republic that we have.

However, they wanted power even more diffused by separating the executive branch from the legislative branch and further dividing the legislature branch into two parts rather than one. Each branch was to counterbalance the other. This system was to prevent power from being too concentrated.
