Gala Pickett Funeral services for Gala Dianne Pickett were held on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague. Bro. Josh Gafford officiated.

Interment followed the services at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation was held prior to the service on Thursday, Dec. 28, beginning at 9 a.m.

Gala passed away on Sunday, Dec. 24, 2023, at Ascension Providence Hospital in Waco.

She was born on July 7, 1965, in Teague, and grew up in Teague and graduated with the Teague High School class of 1983. Gala worked for the Freestone County District Clerk’s office for several years before moving to Mississippi where she worked in the Choctaw County Tax Collector’s Office until moving to Malakoff in 2011.

She recently returned to Freestone County and was presently working at the Freestone County Appraisal District office. Gala was a member of the Freestone Cowboy Church.

She is survived by two sons, J. T. Orand of Haughton, LA, and Brady Ivey and wife Jennifer of Gluckstadt, MS; one sister, Lanett Waters and husband Ray of Buffalo; one brother, Cullen Pickett and wife Mandy of Fairfield; her step-father, Bill Rutherford of Teague; two nieces and two nephews, Heather Schultz and husband Jeremy, Ryan Utsey and wife Carmen, Masa Pickett, and Creston Pickett; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; her aunt, Martha Hendon and husband George; numerous cousins and friends including special friends, Teresa Hejl, Jackie Nichols, and Trudy DeBorde.

Gala was preceded in death by one son, Colby Ivey; her mother, Dianne Rutherford; and her father, Asa Pickett.
