Lady Lions continue win streak against Crockett

The Teague Lady Lions continued their winning streak 56-25 over the Crockett Bulldogs on Friday, Jan. 24.

Calee Payne sank two treys early in the first quarter, in addition to making one of two free throws. Reagan Heggins contributed another two points. Bulldog Jacee Butler had quick rebuttals with two 2-points shots made, but Mallory Steen providing the 3-point answer for the Lions. Meeyah Davis went 2-for-2 on successful free-throw shots, contributing four points total in the first eight minutes. A free throw by Crockett succeeded, but Teague roared onto the court, creating a gap and finishing the first quarter 16-5.

In a second quarter defensive shutdown, the Lady Lions halted the Lady Bulldogs at the basket each play. Heggins caught fire with three successful jump shots and a free throw. Sophomore small forward Ashlynn Forge contributed two goals, with Payne taking another two. At the free throw line, Payne made both shots as well. Davis and Heggins cut the offensive advance short at the goal, making the score at halftime 31-5 for an enormous Lady Lion lead.

Steen continued to dish out 3-pointers in the third quarter, bringing another in at the 4-minute mark. Davis gracefully added two points with a layup, with Payne and senior Takoria Jones netting two more points each. Heggins found the drive to add two more points. With 30 seconds left, Heggins hit another jumper, creating a 47-15 by the end of the third quarter.
