The angelic hosts came for the Reverend Wilmer Randell Davis at his residence in Mexia on Monday, Sept. 24, 2018. Viewing was held Friday, Sept. 28 from 1-7 p.m. at the funeral home with the family present from 6-7 p.m. Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 29 at 2 p.m. in the Northcrest Church of Christ, 918 N. Highway 171, Mexia with Rev. Byron Ravnell, pastor of Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church officiating. Interment was in the Cedar Hill Burial Park, State Hwy 84 West in Mexia. Wilmer gave the city of Mexia, Wilmer Davis, Jr. and wife Rosa Livingston Davis, much joy with his birth on April 16, 1960. At 7:53 p.m., Sept. 24, after a courageous battle with his illness, Rev. Davis passed away in the comfort of his own home surrounded by loving family and devoted friends. He was one of five children. He joined and was baptized in The Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Mexia. He graduated with the Mexia High School Class of 1978. His employment career included Brookshire Bros., The Mexia State School, Legget & Flatt, and the City Of Mexia. His skill as a carpenter eventually led him to develop and maintain more than 21 rental properties of his own in the city of Mexia. Rev. Davis received his calling to the Christian ministry in 1995. Reverend Earl Anderson of The Life House in Mexia, was his mentor. In the year 2001, Pastor Davis was called to be the Shepherd of Ford Chapel Primitive Baptist Church. Rev. Davis has remained the Shepherd of the Ford Chapel flock until the Lord called him home to receive the crown of life. Reverend Davis was preceded in death by his father, Wilmer Davis, Jr. Those left to cherish his memory include: his devoted wife, Vicki DeNesya Henderson Davis; Sons: Bravious Gamble; Dravis Davis and wife, Genekia; Wilmer D. Davis; Daughters: Koeshia Gamble; Mother: Rosa Livingston Davis; Sisters: Tarsha Garrett and husband, Edward; Yolanda Brown and husband, Donvannah of Irving; Tammy Ball and husband, Eric of Desoto; Brothers: Gregory Davis and wife, Lenor; Patrick Dixon and wife, Amanda of Ft. Worth; Aunts: Ella Busby, Earnestine Busby, Wilmer Smith, Hazel McWilliams; Uncles: Bravious Livingston, Larry Davis, Robert Davis, Ronnie Davis; Grandchildren: Dravion, Wilmer II, NyJanae, Koryell, Sabrian, Jaleah, Deyonna,a’Liyah; A special daughter: Kynelta Mae Davis; Nieces, Nephews and other relatives and friends. Moore’s Angelic Funeral Home, 406 Monroe Street, Teague, Texas served the Davis Family.
