Mrs. Whitten passed away on June 1, 2020 at the Fairfield Nursing and Rehab Center.

She was born on June 5, 1934 in Teague, Texas to Thelma and Jesse Inderman, and spent the majority of her lifetime in Teague. She was a proud Teague Lion, a longtime member of Eighth Avenue Baptist Church and later, Cedar Creek Baptist Church, and an active member of her church and community.

First and foremost in her life were her faith and her family. She was a devout Christian, loved music and singing, cooking for family, and never served a bad meal in her life. She enjoyed gardening, and was an avid Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys fan.

She was small in stature, but her love was immeasurable. Her family will most miss her calming voice, beautiful smile, and her hugs. She brought so much light to all of our lives.

She is survived by two daughters: Julie Whitten Norton and husband Rodney of Fairfield and Kristi Whitten Ridge and husband Rickey of Wortham; five grandchildren, Rhianna Griffin and husband Chris, Dylan White, Trent Ridge, Blake Ridge, and Emily Whitten; three great-grandchildren, Keller Griffin, Dean Beckett-Ridge, and Lillyan Whitten; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Whitten was preceded in death by her husband of more than 60 years, Carl Whitten; one son, David Whitten; one daughter, Carla Whitten; her parents, Jesse and Thelma Inderman; siblings, Olen Inderman, Lorene Inderman Veselka, and Laurell Inderman.

The family would like to thank the amazing staffs at Reliant Hospice and Fairfield Nursing and Rehab for their love and care.
