Major David A. Blasingame, USMCR, age 60, passed away in Fort Worth on Thursday, August 17, 2017, after a long battle with cancer. The funeral was 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 22 in Biggers Funeral Chapel of Lake Worth. Interment was 1:15 p.m. at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation was 6-8 p.m. Monday at Biggers Funeral Home. A 1979 graduate of Texas Tech University, David later received his Masters Degree in Military Studies at the Marine Corps Command and Staff College of Quantico, VA and completed his education with a Juris Doctor degree from the Baylor University Law School in Waco, 1996. David retired from 23 years of service in the Marine Corps. He was stationed with the 3rd LAAD Battalion at Camp Pendleton, CA, a veteran of the 1990s Gulf Wars, and also a Commanding Officer of the Weapons Reserve Station in Waco, TX. He later served in Tirana, Albania and Accra, Ghana writing their Military Training Manuals for each country’s fledgling military. After retiring from the Marine Corps, David taught Math, Political Science, and Coached at various TX High Schools for over 20 years, finally finishing his career at Boswell High School, Saginaw. David is survived by his wife, Karen; his children, Amie Marcy and Travis Blasingame, both of Saginaw, and Major Daniel K. Blasingame, of USMC of Camp Lejeune, NC. He is also survived by his 9 loving grandchildren, Sean, Race, Karlie, Jade, Isaiah, Cale, Colt, Liam, and Henry. Other family members include David’s sister, Mrs. Gayle Waldrip of Donie, Tex.; and his brother, Gary Blasingame of Santa Fe, Tex.
