John David Gage

John David Gage, 74, died at his home on Richland Chambers Lake Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2018. John was the son of the late Dr. Maurice and Hazel Gage of Teague. He was a 1962 graduate of Teague High School and attended Baylor University. He was employed as a brakeman with the railroad until his health forced his retirement. Mr. Gage moved to Cozumel, Mexico in the late 1990’s to help with raising his young nephew, Mauro Gage, after Mauro’s father, Gary Gage, died suddenly of a heart attack. He returned to live at his home on Richland Chambers Lake approximately three years ago. He is survived by one brother, Robert (Bob) Gage and wife Cynthia; two nephews, Brent Gage of Stafford, and Mauro Gage of Merida, Mexico, as well as Mauro’s mother, Betty; one niece, Kathryn Gage of Washington D.C.; and many friends as John never met a stranger. His body will be cremated and a footstone placed at the Gage family plot in Greenwood Cemetery. No services are planned at this time.
