JAMES LEW TERRY (PAPA JIM)

James Lew Terry, also known as Papa Jim, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2020, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family.

Jim was born on June 21, 1941, in Richland Springs, Texas, to MD and Ida Terry. He joined the U.S. Army at the age of 17 and later met and married his beautiful wife, Sharon Spencer of Houston on Jan. 21, 1961. They celebrated 59 wonderful years of marriage this past January. While on active duty, Jim broke both legs during an accident and was told he would never walk again. He was then medically discharged and returned home to Richland Springs where he and Sharon began a family, and Jim began his dream job of becoming a professional truck driver. During his 49-year career, Jim drove over two million miles accident-free, earning him a special award with his company. Jim is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Sharon, his brothers: Burt, Tom and MD Terry, his children: Susan Marberry and husband Paul of Streetman, Texas, Mark Terry of Richland Springs, Texas, Brian Terry and wife Jancey of Tow, Texas. Grandchildren: Anthony Marberry of Streetman, Ember Grant and husband Tim of Richland Springs, Taylor Claiborne and husband Jason of Bertram, Jesi Clark and husband Sam of Corpus Christi, Niki Terry, Dallas Terry, and Morgan Terry. Great-grandchildren Fallon, Gabree, Sailor, Delaney and Paxten and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
