Funeral services for Doris Lane Myers, 91, were held on Wednesday, Aug. 14, at 11 a.m. at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague. Interment followed the services at Dew Cemetery.
A visitation was held prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m.
Mrs. Myers passed away on Sunday, Aug.11, 2024, in her residence at Fairfield Nursing & Rehab Center.
Doris Lane Myers was born on May 14, 1933, in Lanely, Texas. She was the youngest of eight children born to Benjamin Lane and Lillie Lane. Mrs. Myers was the granddaughter of the Rev. J.K. Lane and Verbenia Dunbar Lane from whom the Lanely Community was named in honor of.
Mrs. Myers attended school in Dew and Teague, having graduated with the Teague High School Class of 1951. Her early life involved numerous travels across the state of Texas and she eventually settled back in Freestone County. Due to illness, Mrs. Myers spent a large portion of her life in a nursing facility, but she had an outgoing personality and never met a stranger. She loved to attend church and had a deep faith in Jesus Christ. She loved her Sunday school friends at Calvary Baptist Church in Fairfield.
Mrs. Myers is preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Fowler of Port Neches and her second husband, Jessie Myers of Fairfield; her parents, Lillie and Benjamin Lane; six brothers – Noble Lane, Lester Lane, Dwain Lane, Jim Ed Lane, Ben Lane Jr., Lowry “Doc” Lane; and one sister, Arlene “Sis” Lane.
She is survived by her son, David Fowler and wife Michelle of Dew; and two grandsons, Justin Fowler and Cody Fowler of Dew. She is also survived by other relatives and many friends from Fairfield Nursing & Rehab Center.
