DORIS FOGELMAN MARTIN

Funeral services for Doris Fogleman Martin, 97, were be held on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2020, at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague. The Rev. Richard Gillet will officiate. Interment followed the service at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation was Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Martin passed away on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2020, in Conroe.

She was born in Teague to James Melvin and Hattie Vela Jones Fogleman on Oct. 8, 1922. She married William Hardy Martin on Oct. 9, 1939, and shared more than 35 years of marriage together before being separated by his death on May 19, 1975. She moved to El Paso in 1949 and continued to move around to numerous locations with her husband’s job. Mrs. Martin had lived in Conroe since 1996. She was a dedicated mother and homemaker, enjoying jigsaw puzzles, making crafts and anything homemade including making seventy-five Christmas stockings for family, friends and pets. Mrs. Martin was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Teague.

She is survived by her four children, William H. Martin Jr. and wife Lynda of Conroe, Doris Rork and husband Frank of Breckenridge, Marva Jo Skinner and husband Don of Conroe, and James (Jape) Martin and wife Augie of Del Rio; daughter-in-law, Mandy Martin of McAllen; six grandchildren, Lori Lynne Jackson and husband Jim Bob, Jim Martin and wife Angie, Frank Rork Jr. and wife Noel, Gary Rork and wife Amy, Martha Geneva Marroquin and husband Robert, Harvey G. Martin Jr. and wife Jessica; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Rayford Fogleman of San Angelo and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her parents, husband, William Hardy Martin Sr; one son, Harvey Glenn Martin Sr; five sisters, Izetta Heichlebech, Stella Fogleman, Jestina Swint, Dorothy Hardison and Rachel Steen; and three brothers, Richard (Buddy) Fogleman, Travis Fogleman and Monroe Fogleman.
