B.T. HARROL DICKSON

Funeral services for B.T. Harrol Dickson, 88, were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 20, at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague. BrotherRoy Prather, Brother Steve Cowart, and Brother Rusty Sherman officiated. Interment followed the services at Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation was held prior to the services beginning at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Dickson passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at the Teague Nursing Home. Harrol was born in Cherokee County to Willie Lee and Jewell Lee Dickson on Dec. 11, 1933. He married the love of his life, Anna Mae Sherman, on Jan. 17, 1954, and shared more than 68 years of marriage together. Mr. Dickson worked for J.B. White Co. from 1952 to 1990. He managed two stores, one in Jefferson and one in Gonzales before coming to the Teague store in 1959. He worked for TDCJ at the Boyd Unit from 1991-2001 and then began his favorite profession of mowing and caring for lawns until 2017. Mr. Dickson was a member of Eighth Avenue Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Mae Dickson; two daughters, Renae Walker and Kay Fowler and husband Ron; two grandsons, Courtlan Walker and wife Naomi, and Wesley Walker; three granddaughters, Kacie Compton and husband Brian, Heather Strand and husband Mike, and Audra Fowler and fiancé Brannon; eight great-grandsons; two great-granddaughters; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mr. Dickson was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Jewell Dickson; one brother, William J. Dickson; and four sisters, Ruth Taylor, Mae Alexander, Mozelle Allen and Diane Gay.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Fairview Nursing Home, Teague Nursing Home, and Reliant at Home Hospice, especially Judy Angel, for the care given to Mr. Dickson.
