Remembering Trooper Walker

Funeral services for Trooper Chad Walker, age 38, were held yesterday, April 7, at the Groesbeck High School Football Stadium.

Hundreds gathered to remember and honor Walker who was shot on Friday, March 26, in Mexia and passed away on Sunday, March 28, in Waco at Baylor Scott & White Hospital.

The Department of Public Safety Troopers stood as the honor guard for Walker and he was buried at the LaSalle Cemetery.

His loved ones are joined by the entire Groesbeck and surrounding communities, as well as his fellow DPS Troopers and the entire brotherhood of law enforcement personnel, in mourning his tragic death.

“Chad is always one to help others, which is what he was doing the other night. He is always one to just step out there and lend a hand and he is always one that I will forever call my brother,” said Groesbeck Chief of Police Chris Henson.
