Philpott officially named chief of police for Teague

In Executive Session of the Teague City Council meeting, held on Friday, Jan. 19, at city hall, the council voted unanimously to accept Interim Police Chief, D. DeWayne Philpott’s application as Teague Chief of Police. Teague City Administrator, Theresa Prasil said, “On behalf of the City Administration and the Board of Aldermen we are excited to announce that, at the recent meeting of the Board of Aldermen, DeWayne Philpott was selected as the permanent Chief of Police for the City of Teague. Chief Philpott has been employed with the city of Teague for a little more than two years, serving the community as a Lieutenant Interim Chief of Police with the Teague Police Department. We look forward to serving our great community with Chief Philpott as part of our team.”

Also accepted, in Executive Session, was the application of James Peterhoff as Animal Control/Code Enforcement Officer and 911 Coordinator. “We are excited and eager to get him into school for animal control and code enforcement so we can better serve the community by getting stray animals off of the streets. Helping with code enforcement gives us more eyes on the street and get properties cleaned up. Our police officers have been doing animal control in addition to their regular duties making it more stressful for them. He is eager and good hearted and has compassion for animals,” said Prasil.
