Herod signs with ECU in Oklahoma

Teague senior athletic standout Nemier Herod officially committed to East Central University in Oklahoma last week, where he will play football for the Tigers.

He is the son of Celesta and Nemier Herod of Teague.

Teague Athletic Director Donnie Osborn said that Nemier (also known as Bubba) is among some of the best athletes to come through the program.

“We’ve had many really good football players here in Teague,” he said. “Nemier is the best example of a young man who knows how to battle adversity. Throughout his junior high and high school career, he suffered some significant injuries that he had to overcome.”

This football season, Herod was awarded Offense Most Valuable Player at the awards breakfast, and also earned the following: District 8-AAA All-District 1st Team Linebacker; Waco Trib Honor Roll Week 1 vs. Mart; Week 5 vs. Kemp, Week 8 vs. Groesbeck, Week 10 vs. Eustace, and Week 11 vs. Fairfield.
