Election Day is Saturday for city, school, hospital district

Some Teague-area residents can cast their votes Saturday, May 1, for school board and for- or against-a Teague Hospital District tax rate cap increase. The polling location for all three elections is at Teague City Hall, 105 S. 4th Ave.

In the City of Teague Alderman races, Place 2 incumbent Rhonda Jones is running against Douglas Allen. Place 3’s Chris Nickelberry and Place 5’s Ryan Matthison are running unopposed.

Stewart Rogers and Vicki Dimiceli are vying for Place 5 on the Teague ISD Board of Trustees. Brett Myers is not seeking re-election. Jason Hullum has no opponent for Place 6, nor does Justin Lee for Place 7.

Stories on the candidates were published in the April 15 issue of The Teague Chronicle and can be found online at teaguechronicle.com.

The Teague Hospital District is seeking to increase its maximum rate of 5 cents per $100 property evaluation to 12 cents per $100 evaluation. If the measure passes, the tax rate will not necessarily jump to 12 cents; however, it gives the Board of Directors the ability to raise the rate as needed, up to that point.

The Teague Chronicle published a story on this issue in the April 22 issue. It can be found online at teaguechronicle. com
