‘Back in the Saddle’

Freestone County Fair set for June

The 2021 Freestone County Fair, themed “Back in the Saddle,” returns to its traditional form this year after a somewhat abbreviated schedule during last year’s pandemic conditions.

There will be a few precautions in place for the event, set for June 14-19.

All visitors and exhibitors are encouraged to wear a face covering and practice social distancing, and all livestock shows will be livestreamed online for spectators who do not feel comfortable attending the shows in person.

Hand sanitizer stations will be available at the fairgrounds for attendees as well.

The event officially begins Monday, June 14, with the arrival of Go-Texan quilt entries at 7:30 a.m., followed by the Ag Mechanics Show check-in at 9 a.m.

The Ag Mechanics projects show takes place at 11:30 a.m., with all projects released after the show, with the exception of grand and reserve champions.

Judging of Home & Garden entries runs from 3 to 6 p.m., with the carnival opening for the first of its six-night run at 6 p.m.
