Buckskin Frank

His real name was Nashville Franklyn Leslie, but the fringed buckskin coat worn all the time provided his nickname, Buckskin Frank. Although, he is not as well known as some Old West characters such as his friends, Wyatt Earp, Doc Holliday, and Bat Masterson, Leslie was a “man of mystery.” Two well known and respected authors and researchers, Jack DeMattos and Chuck Parsons have written a gripping story of this long neglected character.

Born in Nashville, Tennessee, Leslie, as a young man, made his way west and became a scout for the army. He arrived in Tombstone, wearing his “city attire” and standing 5’7” and weighting 135 pounds just as it was beginning to be the celebrated wild and dangerous town of gun violence . . . His gunfight with Billy Claibourne, friend of the Clantons who became famous in the fight at the O.K. Corral. Although, this shooting helped build Leslie’s reputation, he had already killed a man.
