2008 Christmas Tour of Homes is Saturday

THE PEYTON HOUSE, HOME OF Finis and Gail Peyton, will be presenting a spectacular light show for the Teague Christmas Tour of Homes 2008. In this beautiful countryside setting people on the tour will be able to set their radios to a posted channel to hear the music while the lights dance! There will also be a wonderful Santa scene on the porch with a hand made Santa and elves that were made especially for the Peytons' by a man in New York who makes many of the motion displays in the windows for the big department stores. Don't miss this fabulous Christmas scene.

The excitement is building as the time for the Teague Christmas Tour of Homes 2008 draws near! This is such a special year because of the old historical homes and wonderful carriage or wagon rides through town. Beautiful music will be everywhere and the Christmas decorations are awesome.

The festivities begin on Saturday, December 6th, at the B-RI Railroad and Historical Museum at 4:00 p.m. and the carriage and wagon rides will begin and end there. Carriage rides are by reservation only! You need to get your reservations in early in order to assure yourself a carriage ride. The cost is $10 each for the carriage rides and $4 each for the wagon rides. Wagon and carriage rides begin at 5:00 p.m. Citizens National Bank is sponsoring the carriage and wagon rides.

The museum will have beautiful harp music, sponsored by the Freestone Credit Union, refreshments of cookies, apple cider, coffee and hot chocolate. Jolly 'ol Santa himself will be at the museum listening to children's Christmas wishes and posing for pictures with them. Santa will be stationed at the Philpot log cabin at the museum for some memorable pictures at only $2 each. There will also be tours of the B-RI Railroad and Historical Museum.

At 4:30 p.m. the Eighth Avenue Children's Choir will begin entertaining at the Hubbard House, owners Jim and Ruth Darden. Following the children's choir will be the adult choir, Michelle Smith on flute and Men's Carolers. The Hubbard House is a must see!

The Headlee House will be alive with music at 4:30 p.m. with the First Baptist Church Children's Choir followed by Dr. E.V. Moore and Choir. Shirley Jones, Stacy Dodd and Stan Waldrip will be bringing a "Country Christmas" and the First Baptist Joy Bells Hand Bell Choir will be there also. To end the evening soloist Brenda Ballew will be entertaining with pianist Earl Wiley accompanying. This may be the only opportunity to tour this historic home owned by Richard and Tracy Doggett. Don't miss it!

The beautiful, historic Huffman House is an exciting home to see with its antiques and graceful lines. Beginning at 4:30 p.m. the First United Methodist Children's Choir will be performing followed by Christina Mims, extraordinary pianist, and some of her students. Winding up the evening will be the wonderful piano music of John Blakley. This home will be a special treat as the homeowner David Huffman will conduct the tours.

One of the most exciting places on the tour will be the home of Gail and Finis Peyton where there will be a light show that will coincide with the Christmas music. You will be told what radio station to tune into and listen while the lights dance to the music over the country side! This is a drive through display and will be a magical wonderland to see!

Tickets may be purchased in advance at The Teague Chronicle or The Grille and the night of the tour at the B-RI Railroad and Historical Museum. Tickets for the Teague Christmas Tour of Homes 2008 are $10 for adults and $5 for children.
