Food For Families Drive sets another record

AN $800 DONATION AT THE END of the annual Food For Families Food Drive at The Lord's Community Storehouse pushed the total over last year's record of 52,000 pounds. Lisa Miller, R.N., Nurse-Owner, and Angie Roberts, R.N., Director of Nursing, of A Trinity Valley Home Health and Therapy Services of Athens, Texas are shown presenting the donation to Jeff Powers and Ross Provost of The Lord's Community Storehouse.
- The Lord's Community Storehouse had their best food drive ever this year. They received food and financial donations during last Friday's annual Food for Families Food Drive that will provide more than 53,000 pounds of food for the next year.

"This year really exceeded our expectations," said Rev. Jeff Powers, President of the Lord's Community Storehouse. "The Teague community always steps up to help hungry people. Even with some of the financial worries that folks have, they still gave more than ever. We live in a very generous community."

Near the end of the food drive, it appeared that the drive would not beat last years' record of 52,000. But at the end of the day, A Trinity Valley Home Health of Athens, Texas donated $800, which pushed the pantry past the 52,000 pound mark.

The local school made a big difference as well. Teague High school students donated 7,677 pounds. Teague Elementary came through with 2,606 pounds; Teague Intermediate donated 1,270 pounds and Teague Junior High gave 632 pounds. All told the student and teacher community gave more than 12,000 pounds of food to the hungry this year!

The Lord's Community Storehouse feeds 140 families every month in Teague and covers all of Western Freestone County. For more information about The Lord's Community Storehouse, contact Rev. Jeff Powers at 739-2095.
