The Annual Christmas Parade of Lights is right around the corner, scheduled for Thursday, December 11th.
The celebration will get started with the arrival of St. Nick himself, who will roll into town at 3:30 p.m. on a BNSF railroad locomotive. Santa will receive a police escort from the train to the Teague Community Center, where he receive Christmas wishes from good little boys and girls, and pose for photographs with the kids.
The Parade of Lights, sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, will begin forming up at the Teague Elementary School on 10th Street at 5:30 p.m. The Parade will roll down Main Street at 6:00 p.m., and entries must be “lighted” to be eligible to participate.
There will be several categories in which parade entrants will be judged, including Most Beautiful, Most Religious, Most Humorous, etc.
Before the Parade of Lights, don’t forget that the First United Methodist Church’s Friendship will be holding its annual Hamburger Supper starting at 5:00 p.m. in the Community Center. The Methodist Church applies proceeds from the Hamburger Supper to the purchase of new clothing for less fortunate children in our community, so be sure to go by the Community Center and enjoy a delicious burger, and help to clothe a Teague child!
So, with only a week left to prepare, all citizens are encouraged to get to work and contribute to making this year’s Parade of Lights the most beautiful the community has seen.
Ho! Ho! HO!!!
