NANCY LOU POSEY LEE
Mrs. Nancy Lou Posey Lee, 68, of Shiloh, Texas, passed away on Friday morning, November 14, 2008, at Waco, Texas.
Funeral services for Mrs. Lee were held at Calvary Baptist Church in Mexia, Texas, on Sunday, November 16, 2008.
Rev. David Snow and Neil Bond officiated and interment followed the service at Shiloh Cemetery.
Mrs. Lee was born on January 12, 1940, in Forest Glade, Texas. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and a bank teller at First Mexia Bank for over 40 years before retiring. For a short time she was a substitute teacher for Mexia ISD. Mrs. Lee was a friend to many in the Mexia/Shiloh area and had a positive and profound influence in the community.
Mrs. Lee is survived by her daughter Carrie Lou Ingle and husband Jim; her son Jonathan Lee and wife Nancy of Mexia; her grandchildren William and Zachary Ingle, Rachel and Andrea O’Hare and Presley and Tristan Lee; her great grandchildren Lacey O’Hare and Trevor Parker, Jr.; her brothers Edward Cayton and wife Blanche of Houston, Bennie Posey and wife Jimmie of Mexia, Dr. Delma Posey and wife Patsy of Temple and Don Posey and wife Laqueta of Fairfield.
She was preceded in death by her husband O.J. Lee, Jr. and parents Delma Ross and Lois Lorene Sikes Posey.
Pallbearers for Mrs. Lee were Billy McKenzie, Robert McKenzie, Mike Cayton, Phillip Posey, Ronald Posey, Timothy Posey, Daniel Posey, Patrick Posey and Michael Posey.

MARY ELIZABETH BASS
Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Bass, 77, of Lake Limestone, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2008, at her residence. She was 77 years old.
Funeral services for Mrs. Bass were held on Friday, September 26, 2008, at the Church on the Rock in Groesbeck with Pastor Billy (Sonny) Beaver officiating. Interment followed at Point Enterprise Cemetery.
Mary Elizabeth was born on September 29, 1930, at Chicago, Illinois to Ole and Willie Gay Wright Waage, who preceded her in death. Mary was united in marriage with James Monroe Bass on June 29, 1945 in Mexia, Texas.
Mrs. Bass is survived by her husband, James Monroe; her sons Jim Bass and wife Rhonda of Lake Limestone and Jimmy Bass and wife Kristi of China Spring; her daughters Vonda Brooke and husband Roger of Teague and Linda Vollers and husband Pete of San Leon; ten grandchildren: Jody Bass, Corey Bass, Brian Brooke, Shauna Vaughan, Stefany Summers, Bobby Locke, Heather Bass, Haley Bass, Macy Bass and Bradley Bass; 13 great grandchildren, soon to be 14, and nephew Marvin Berry and wife Patsy of Atlanta, Texas.
Pallbearers for Mrs. Bass were Robert Johnson, Ronnie Sims, Jack Mauldin, Bob Hammet, Matt Wragge and Louis Livingston. Honorary pallbearers were Greg Shelton, Bill Haynes and Jeff Melasky.

RUBY STEPHENSON
Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Stephenson, 79, were held on Tuesday, September 30, 2008, at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague, Texas.
Bro. Gerald R. Dudley, Bro. Billy Reed and Bro. Lance Barker conducted the services. Interment was at Union Cemetery near Freestone, Texas.
Mrs. Stephenson passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2008, at Limestone Medical Center in Groesbeck, Texas. She was born in Wood County to Thomas Gordon and Mattie Florence Nichols. She married John William Stephenson on July 22, 1952, and shared over fifty years together until being separated by death.
Mrs. Stephenson was a hard worker all of her life and was employed with numerous businesses throughout her life wherever she lived. Almost all of her jobs involved cooking. She was a wonderful cook and especially enjoyed cooking for her family. Mrs. Stephenson was a member of the Cowboy Heritage Church of Freestone County.
She is survived by her son Gordon Nelson Stephenson and wife Penny of Lanely; her daughters Susan Annette Williams and Joyce Lynne Gonzales and husband Henry all of Donie; ten grandchildren Billy Joe Williams, John Wesley Williams, Kevin Lee Williams, Keith Wayne Williams, Wendy Lorene McNutt and husband Josh, William Ray Stephenson, Justin Bradley Stephenson, Jeffery David Gonzales and wife Jennifer, Yolanda Nicole Gonzales and Matthew Henry Gonzales; thirteen great grandchildren; numerous other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Stephenson was preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Florence Nichols; her husband J.W. Stephenson; her daughter Tommie Darlene Stephenson; her brother Ernest Lee Roy Nichols and two great grandsons Sean and Chance McNutt.

LULA MAE HORTON
Mrs. Lula Mae Horton passed away on May 12, 2008. She was 100 years old.
Mrs. Horton was born on February 17, 1908, in Freestone County, Texas to Lee Shanks and Annie Mae Rogers Shanks.
Funeral services for Mrs. Horton were held on May 15, 2008, at Capps Memorial Chapel in Fairfield, Texas. Rev. Horton, Tommy Hall and Rev. Skinner conducted the services and interment was at Woodland Cemetery.
She is survived by her children Charlene Allbright and husband James of Houston, Allene Stubbs and husband Carol of Houston and Henry Horton and wife Vannette of Fairfield; nine grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Mrs. Horton was preceded in death by her husband W.C. “Dub” Horton, her parents, six brothers, one sister and her grandsons Jamie Allbright and Lee Horton.
Pallbearers for Mrs. Horton were Barry Allbright, Charlie Allbright, Michael Stubbs, Jack Stubbs, Shawn Eyre and Paul Knight.

AL TISDALE
Memorial services for Mr. Al Tisdale were held on Friday, May 16, 2008, at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague, Texas.
Mr. Tisdale was born on September 15, 1935, in Streetman and passed away at his residence on Tuesday, May 13, 2008.
He was a member of Cotton Gin Lodge #154 in Kirvin and was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason. Mr. Tisdale loved to hunt and fish and listen to country music. He played guitar and fiddle and was once invited to play in the Grand Old Opry. Mr. Tisdale was a heavy equipment operator and owned and operated Al’s Dozer service for many years.
He is survived by his daughters Kathy Fryar and Debbie Kilgore both of Spring, Texas; his grandson Keith Kilgore of Teague; his great granddaughters Rachel Fryar and Kylie; his granddaughter-in-law Cynthia Fryar all of Spring; his sister Nell Winkler and husband Clayton of Killeen; sisters-in-law Mary Clark of Dallas, Linda Huffman and husband James, Sue Nichols, Jennifer Parson and husband Bobby; his brother-in-law John Nichols and wife Edna all of Teague; aunts Edna White of Temple and Lela Graham of Wortham; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mr. Tisdale was preceded in death by his wife Jean Tisdale; his grandson Shawn Fryar, his mother Mary Tisdale and his father Granville Tisdale.

HOWARD RUSSELL GRIBBLE
A memorial service was held on Saturday, May 17, 2008, for Howard Russell Gribble. The Reverend Robert L. Gribble officiated.
Mr. Gribble passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at Parkview Regional Hospital in Mexia at the age of sixty-six.
He was born on April 8, 1942, in Houston, Texas, to Joseph Russell and Lorraine Tellespen Gribble. He worked in the elevator construction, maintenance and repair business for about fifteen years. He and his wife, Mary, retired to Jewett and had lived there since 2002.
Mr. Gribble was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Sid Gribble and his granddaughter Wendi Lynn Henry.
He is survived by his wife of thirty-seven years, Mary Gribble of Jewett; his sons Russell Gribble of Palestine and Mike Caveness and wife Kelly of Jewett; his daughters Kristen Brandon and husband Bruce of Conroe and Connie Henry and husband Sonny Henry III, Darren Henry, Tyler Caveness, Deanna Gribble and Brent Brandon; his brothers Rev. Robert L. Gribble and wife Gretchen and Kruse Gribble; and numerous other relatives and friends.

RUSSELL (DUSTY) ROWLEY
Russell (Dusty) Rowley passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2008. He was born on February 18, 1946, in Woburn, Massachusetts to Russell and Muriel (Clark) Rowley. As a young child he lived in Glendora, California for a while before moving back east to Maine with his family.
Mr. Rowley entered the United States Army during the Vietnam era and served two tours in Thailand. After retiring from the Army he made Texas his home. Even with the handicaps of being a disabled veteran he enjoyed spending time with his family. He enjoyed being outdoors just to see the flowers, watch the birds and animals.
Funeral services for Mr. Russell (Dusty) Rowley were held on Saturday, April 5, 2008, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home Chapel in Mexia, Texas.
Rev. Michael Vestal, pastor of Temple Baptist Church in Mexia officiated and interment followed at Faulkenberry Cemetery in Groesbeck, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife Betty Parker Rowley of Mexia, his brother Gordon Rowley and wife Norma of Glendora, California, his brother David Rowley and wife Leanna of Troy, Maine and many beloved nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews and family.
Pallbearers for Mr. Rowley were Ivy Gay, Jeremie Howard, Joshua Howard, Joseph Howard, Bud Howard and Terry Gray. Honorary pallbearers were Jimmy Sandifer and Cecil Sandifer.

JIMMY LUTHER BREWER, SR.
Funeral services for Jimmy L. Brewer, Sr. were held on Friday, April 4, 2008, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Buffalo, Texas.
Rev. Dale Osteen and Bro. Travis “Bo” Davis officiated with burial following the service at Buffalo Cemetery.
Mr. Jimmy L. Brewer, Sr. was born on July 17, 1938, in Teague, Texas, to Edgar Z. Brewer and Lola (Smith) Brewer (Holland).
Mr. Brewer was one of Buffalo’s lifetime cowboy residents. He was well known by many for his roping, trapping, trading, deer processing and electrical work. He was a graduate of Buffalo High School and a member of First Baptist Church. He loved to tinker with tractors, ride horses, draw pictures, write poetry and would tell a grand story if you had time to listen.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Laura “Lollie” (Pickens) Brewer, his parents and his grandson Andy Lee Hawley.
Mr. Brewer is survived by his daughters Melissa Grant and husband Robert of Buffalo, Michelle Allbritton of Buffalo and Elizabeth Brewer of Buffalo; his son Jimmie Brewer, Jr. and wife Brenda of Keechi; his grandchildren Emilie Prater and Amber Hawley of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Ricky Kilgore, Jr. and wife Christina of Buffalo, Stephanie Adams and husband Jonathan of Grand Prairie, Christina Grant of Wilmer, Caleb Grant, Patrick Grant and Ryan Grant all of Buffalo, Dudley Brewer and wife Rebecca of Houston, Haylee Brewer of Buffalo, J.W. Brewer and wife Krystal of Buffalo and Joshua Brewer of Buffalo; his great grandchildren Conley Prater and Cason Heron of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jernon Hawley and Kaiden Loep of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Rhett and Dirk Kilgore of Parkers Lake, Kentucky, Andie Kilgore of Buffalo, Ryan Marie King of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Kayla and Johnathan Adams of Grand Prairie, Grant Czerwinski of Wilmer, Abigail Brewer of Houston and Allison Brewer of Buffalo. His brother Joe E. Brewer and wife Dixie of Buffalo also survive Mr. Brewer.
Pallbearers for Mr. Brewer were Gene Scott, Ricky Kilgore, Jr., Caleb Grant, Dudley Brewer, J.W. Brewer and Joshua Brewer. Honorary pallbearers were Adolph Rodell, Charles Brogden, Roger White, Charlie Waters, Buford Cooper and Timoteo Bueno.

BILLY EDWARD (FROG MAN) COOPER
Funeral services for Mr. Billy (Frog Man) Cooper were held on Saturday, April 5, 2008, at Bowers Funeral Home. Interment followed the service at Union Cemetery near Freestone with an honor guard from the United States Navy. Bro. Jack McDaniel of Cedar Creek Baptist Church officiated.
Mr. Cooper passed away on March 30, 2008, at his residence in Waco, Texas. He was born on July 19, 1952. He graduated from Tech High School in Fort Worth and served in the United States Navy from 1973 until 1979. Mr. Cooper was a very talented man and owned his own stained glass shop in Orange County, California for six years. He moved to Teague in July of 1991 and then moved to Waco later that same year. He was currently employed by Crete Trucking Co. as a long distance truck driver.
Mr. Cooper is survived by his mother, Edna McCauley and husband Herman of Teague; his daughter Jessica Zoe Hulter and husband Daniel of Parkville, Maryland; two grandchildren Rebecca Jane Hulter and Daniel Robert Haulter; the mother of his daughter Rose Vodery of Felton, California; his half brother Billie Joe Cooper, Jr. of Corpus Christi; other relatives and friends.
Mr. Cooper was preceded in death by his father Billie Joe Cooper and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

EUGENE MELTON “GUS” STEINER
Mr. Eugene Melton “Gus” Steiner, of Fairfield, Texas, passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2008. He was 64 years old.
Mr. Steiner was born on August 13, 1943, in Noodle, Texas, to Homer and Margaret Grimes. He graduated from Newman High School in Sweetwater, Texas in 1962. Gus portrayed Santa in Santa on the Square for 20 plus years. He was an original member of Fairfield EMS, retired; a member of EMS Board of Directors and was a member of Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department for many years. He retired from TUMCO in 1992 and was currently employed by Freestone County. He owned Steiner Fencing Co. and was a member of Round Prairie Baptist Church.
Funeral services for Mr. Steiner were held on Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at Round Prairie Baptist Church.
Bro. Ed Ridge officiated and burial was at Woodland Cemetery.
Mr. Steiner is survived by his wife Susan Steiner of Fairfield, his daughters Chelsea Steiner of Fairfield, Kelli Brown and husband Bobby of Teague, his brother Homer Loyd Grimes, Jr. and wife Patsy of Sweetwater, his sister-in-law Janie Prestridge of Athens, his mother-in-law Dorothy Petri of Fairfield, his brothers-in-law Alan Petri and John Bush of Alverado, Michael Petri of Missouri City, Texas, his granddaughters Macy and Jenna Brown of Teague and his special daughter Anna Easter.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter Brett Kristian Steiner.
Pallbearers for Mr. Steiner were Brian Hughes, Bobby Brown, Roy Casey, III, Billie Perez, Stevie James and Monte Atchley. Honorary pallbearers were John Fryer, W.A. Davis, Noland Hughes, Ralph Lambert, Mike O’Neill, Roy Casey, Jr., John Gordon Small and J.H. Keller.
