During the hot summer days of late July, fall and football games seem far away. However, it will only be a couple weeks before practices will be underway getting student athletes across the state in shape for another year of Texas football at its best. The hometown Teague Lions will be competing in District 11-3A this year against Malakoff, Elkhart, Eustace, Kemp and Palestine Westwood. The Lions will be under the direction of first year Athletic Director/Head Coach Donnie Osborn. Osborn moves to the field house after serving as principal of Teague High School for a year and Teague Junior High School for approximately twenty years.

The Lions are returning eleven on offense and four on defense from last year?s team that went 7-4, including a trip to the Bi-District play-offs.

Look for big things from the Lions this year as Dave Campbell?s 2014 Texas Football Magazine has the Lions starting the season ranked #9 in the state in 3A Division 1.

Teague?s first scrimmage of the year will be the Orange and White scrimmage on Saturday, August 9th at 10 a.m. in Lion Stadium. The Lions will then scrimmage on Friday, August 15th against Waco Robinson in Robinson and finish their scrimmages for the year against Troy in Lion Stadium on Thursday, August 21st.

The Lions will play five preseason games before District action begins on October 10th against Kemp High School. Preseason games will be played against Lexington on August 28th at Waco ISD Stadium; against Mexia on September 5th at Lion Stadium; against Groesbeck on September 12 in Groesbeck; against Caldwell (Homecoming) on September 19th and against Mabank on September 26th in Mabank.
