Spring Sports at THS in High Gear with Teams Doing Well
THS spring sports are in high gear with Lion softball, baseball, and boys and girls track in the spotlight. The Teague athletes are doing an amazing job this year with Lady Lion softball winning their first ever-outright District Championship with an 11-1 record; fourteen members of the boys and girls track teams are heading to the Regional Track Meet in Stephenville, and Lion baseball team has won their third consecutive District Championship.
The Lady Lions clinched the district title on Tuesday, April 15th with a 3-1 win over Riesel. The Lady Lions will come up against Onalaska in the Bi-District playoff series on Friday, April 25th ? 26th at Bryan Rudder High School in Bryan, Texas.
Teague baseball had a thrilling win over Riesel on Tuesday to take the district championship. They really showed their championship spirit winning by a 13 -2 margin. Even though the Lion baseball had the district championship sewn up, they still have to face Mildred and Rice in the regular season this week before finding out where and when they play in the post season.
Fourteen members of the boys and girls track teams earned their way to the Regional Track Meet in Stephenville after an outstanding showing at the Area Track Meet on Wednesday, April 16th. Of the twelve girls competing in the area meet, eight of them will be going to Regionals. The boys had eleven competing at the area meet and six will be moving on to the Regional Track Meet. The Regional Track Meet will be held on Friday, April 25th and Saturday, April 26th.
Teague has a right to be proud of these fine young men and women athletes for their hard work and winning spirit that gave them the right to be called Champions.
