Chamber Banquet Is Tonight, Thursday, April 10
THE TEAGUE LIONS golf teams, boys and girls, both won District on Friday, April 15th. Both teams will be heading to Regionals in Stephenville next week. The boys’ teams consist of Cam McSwane, he shot 96 giving first overall; Mason Sheffield, he shot a 99 giving him second overall; Ethan Bodnar, he shot a 100 giving him third overall; Will Van Winkle, and Jared Strawser. The boys’ team total was 412. Evan Bodnar will be going with the boys team to regionals as a medalist. The girls’ team consist of Addison Stuver, she shot a 104 giving first overall; Abbey Hurst, Kallie Brown, Kassidy Griffith, and Maddison Awalt. The girls’ team score total was 462.
The annual Teague Chamber of Commerce Banquet is tonight, Thursday evening, April 10, 2014, 6:30 p.m., at the Teague Community Center. Admission will be $20.00 and includes a catered dinner. Tickets will be available at the door.
A Mexican dinner will be served by Teague?s own Rancho Nuevo Mexican Restaurant. Prior to serving dinner the Invocation will be given by Mr. Jerry Jones and Boy Scout Troop 291 will Post Colors and lead the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Ricky Sims has graciously agreed to be the Master of Ceremonies again this year and dinner music will be provided by John Blakeley.
Teague City Administrator, Judy Kealy, will give a warm welcome to all guests and Ricky Sims will announce the Introduction of Special Guests. Rhonda Jones, President of the Teague Chamber of Commerce, will give the Chamber of Commerce Report for 2013.
The annual awards will be presented by the Chamber of Commerce to deserving Teague citizens who have contributed their time and energy to make Teague a great place to live.
The coveted Boyd Community Service Cup Award will be presented to Lovie Whyte for 2013. Ms. Whyte was chosen by a panel of former Boyd Cup winners and is receiving the most prestigious award given at the banquet each year.
Awards to be presented this year include the Citizen of the Year Award to Mayor Earnest Pack; Business of the Year Award will go to Chadus Garage; and the Organization of the Year Award to the Soup Kitchen, held at First Baptist Church in Teague, however, all area churches participate. Student of the Year Awards will be presented to an outstanding student from each of the Teague Independent School District?s four campuses. Students of the Year are: Teague Elementary, Delainey Long; Teague Intermediate School, Mallory Steen; Teague Junior High School, Lane Morgan; and Teague High School, Kelsie Lummus.
Presenters of the awards are: Matt Gillet, Boyd Community Service Cup; Gus Ramirez, Citizen of the Year; Linda Steen, Organization of the Year; Randy Turner, Business of the Year; and the Students of the Year will be presented by: Carol Ann Dawley, Elementary School; Vicki Little, Intermediate School; Drake Paris, Junior High School; and Donnie Osborn, High School.
