City Receives $62,510.91Sales Tax Rebate Check

16.39 percent increase over this time last year

The City of Teague has received a check in the amount of $62,510.91 for their portion of the state sales tax rebate sent out each month by the State Comptroller?s office.

The February 2014 rebate check showed 16.39 percent increase from the $53,705.47 check sent to the city at this time last year.

For the first two months of 2014 the City of Teague has received checks totaling $104,540.43, an increase of 18.71 percent from last year?s total at this time of $88,062.75.

Three quarters of all sales tax rebate checks sent to the City of Teague are deposited into the general fund for local operations and the remaining twenty-five percent of the check is deposited into the Teague Economic Development Corporation?s fund account.

The City of Fairfield received a check in the amount of $260,349.23 this month. The check is 5.02 percent more than the $247,882.35 check received at this time last year. So far in 2014, Fairfield has received checks totaling $399,260.92, an increase of 7.27 percent from the $372,170.34 received by this time last year.

The City of Wortham received a check in the amount of $23,494.59, an increase of 22.47 percent from last year?s check at this time of $19,812.50. So far this year, the City of Wortham has received checks totaling $32,488.63, an increase of 4.37 percent from the $31,126.49 check received last year.

The City of Streetman received a check in the amount of $4,863.74 this month. The check was 17.97 percent more than the $4,122.69 check received at this time last year. So far this year Streetman has received checks totaling $6,020.66, a decrease of 20.76 percent from the $7,598.26 received by this time last year.

The February sales tax allocations as a whole in Freestone County totaled $351,218.47, an increase of 8.10 percent from the $324,893.01 received in February of last year. For the first two months of 2014, Freestone County cities have received $542,310.64 an increase of 8.68 percent from the $498,957.84 received at this time last year.

State Comptroller Susan Combs sent February 2014 tax allocations of $526.0 million to Texas cities, up 8.0 percent compared to February 2013.

Cities in Limestone County received sales tax payments totaling $341,225, an increase of 5.14 percent from this time last year.

Leon County cities received sales tax payments of $169,489.84, an increase of 4.46 percent from this time last year.

Anderson County cities received sales tax payments totaling $656,041.82, up 1.22 percent from one year ago.
