New Church of Christ Minister, Douglas Young
Minister Douglas Young
The Church of Christ, on 8th Avenue in Teague, has a new minister. Douglas Young comes to Teague from Portales, New Mexico, where he was working at the New Mexico Christian Children?s Home. I wanted to come back because working with churches and the congregation is where my heart is,? said Douglas. He doesn?t like titles and likes to be called by his first name.
Douglas Young grew up in Beeville, Texas and graduated from A.C. Jones High School. He received his bachelor?s degree in Ag Education at Texas A&M Kingsville and his Masters degree in Conflict Management at Abilene Christian University.
Douglas met his wife, Tisha, at an Ag Conference while they were both in college. She was attending Texas A&M at College Station and he was at A&M Kingsville. They married on May 24, 1997. The couple has three children: Haylee, who is 12 years old and attending Teague Junior High School; Aby, 11, and Reese who is 9, attend Teague Intermediate School. Tisha is working on her teaching certificate and will begin teaching in the Agriculture Department at Groesbeck High School in January.
Douglas Young said, ?My hope is to share how Jesus has impacted my life and how he can do the same for anyone. Finding peace after chaos. When people?s lives are in chaos is when Jesus usually comes into their lives.?
He continued, ?I hope to be in Teague for a long time. We do like it here and want to be active in the community.?
