Homeowner Identifies Burglar In Line-Up

Arrest Made Afterwards

DUSTIN WEST AND ELLIE PERALES were named Mr. and Miss T.H.S. at a special event during half time at the Teague/Palestine Westwood football game last Friday night. Dustin is the son of Kevin and Kim West and Ellie is the daughter of Jay and Tammy Jones and Servando Perales. Also nominated for the honor were Emily Walker, William Kyle Hayworth, Kirby Cooper and Andrew Roman.

An altercation between a homeowner and an alleged burglar on Thursday night, October 10th, led to the arrest of a Teague man the following day by the Teague Police Department.

According to Teague Chief of Police Dennis Cox, 31-year-old Kenny Busby of Teague was arrested on Friday, October 11th after the homeowner positively identified him from a six-picture photo line-up. Once Busby was identified, the Teague Police Department obtained an arrest warrant for Busby for burglary of a habitation. Chief Cox reports that after the warrant was issued, officers located Busby on 2nd Avenue on October 11th and took him into custody and transported him to Freestone County Jail.

Reports show that the homeowner returned to his residence on North Seventh Avenue at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Thursday night. Upon entering his residence he heard a noise in his bedroom and went to investigate. Reports says he saw a black male standing in his bedroom. The homeowner stated that the man unsuccessfully tried to exit through a locked window, then jumped over the bed and tried to run out of the bedroom.

An altercation between the two men ensued with Busby eventually being able to run out of a door of the house. The Teague Police Department was immediately notified but they were unable to locate the subject Thursday night. On Friday, the Teague P.D. learned of a possible suspect and put the photo line-up together, in which Busby was identified as the intruder.

Chief Cox reports the two men did not know each other and that entry into the residence was gained prying the lock open on a side door to the home.
