City Receives $53,166.53 Rebate Check
The City of Teague has received a check in the amount of $53,166.53 for their portion of the state sales tax rebate sent out each month by the State Comptroller?s office.
The October 2013 rebate check showed a 40.6 percent increase over the $37,813.15 rebate check sent to the city at this time last year.
For the first ten months of 2013, the City of Teague has received checks totaling $578,357.44, an increase of almost 50 percent (49.1%)from last year?s total at this time of $388,121.78.
Three quarters of all sales tax rebate checks sent to the City of Teague are deposited into the general fund for local operations and the remaining twenty-five percent of the check is deposited into the Teague Economic Development Corporation?s fund account.
State Comptroller Susan Combs reports that October rebates checks sent to Texas cities totaled $2.01 billion, up 2.7 percent compared to October 201`2. the sales tax figures represent monthly sales made in august, reported to the Comptroller in September and delivered to Texas cities in October.
?State sales tax revenue collections continued to grow at a moderate pace,? Combs said. ?Growth was led by collections from the construction, telecommunications and retail sectors. State sales tax revenue has now increased for 42 consecutive months.?
The City of Fairfield received a rebate check in the amount of $146,975.35 this month. The check shows a 14.05 percent increase from the $128,860.18 check received at this time last year. So far in 2013, Fairfield has received rebate checks totaling $1,782,214.70, an increase of 8.54 percent from the $1,641,884.31 received by this time in 2012.
The City of Wortham received a check in the amount of $8,692.07, a decrease of 21.51 percent from last year?s check at this time of $11,074.16. So far in 2013, Wortham has received checks totaling $124,831.24, a decrease of 1.38 percent from the $126,584.06 received during the first ten month of last year.
The City of Streetman received a check this month in the amount of $4,847.92. The rebate check was 77.55 percent more than the $2,730.38 check received in October of 2012. So far in 2013, Streetman has received checks totaling $34,760.57, an increase of 12.32 percent compared to last year?s total at this time of $30,946.29.
The October sales tax rebate allocations as a whole in Freestone County totaled $213,681.87, an increase of 18.39 percent over the $180,478.50 received in October of 2012. For the first ten months of 2013, Freestone County cities have received checks totaling $2,520,163.95, an increase of 15.20 percent over $2,187,536.44 received by this time last year.
Cities in Limestone County received sales tax rebate payments totaling $264,284.90, a decrease of 10.72 percent from the $296,018.68 received at this time last year. So far this year, Limestone County has received $2,794,439.20, up 0.1 percent from the $2,791,584.03 received by this time last year.
Leon County cities received sales tax rebate payments of $144,899.76 this month, an increase of 14.27 percent from the $126,801.82 received last year at this time. So far this year, Leon County has received sales tax rebate checks in the amount of $1,410,586.38, an increase of 5.52 percent from the $1,627,090.75 received during the first ten months of 2012. r
Cities in Anderson County received October sales tax rebate checks totaling $496,712.58, an increase of 5.35 percent from the $471,481.43 paid in October of 2012. The total received for 2013 so far is $5,184,287.70, a 0.68 percent decrease from the 5,220,185.18 in rebates received by this time last year.
