District Governor Visits Teague Rotary Club
ROTARY MEMBERS PICTURED (l to r) are Membership Chair Joe Baker, District Governor Nominee Hanspeter Tobler, Assistant District Governor Dr. Jody Thacker, District Governor Rich Kaye, host Rev. Jimmy Petty, and Rotary Club President Tommy Wright.
Teague Rotary hosted a meeting with their district Governor Rich Kaye on October 1 at the Teague Bible Church.?
Rich has toured the entire district to advise, support and create enthusiasm for the mission of Rotary. Rotary is his ?third career?. He served as a US Army officer from the Vietnam War era through the first Gulf War.? He retired from the army and worked for a defense contractor after that.? Now he is putting his life experiences and energies into Rotary.?
Rich is a member of the Kileen-Heights Rotary club and serves District 5870 which includes clubs from Austin to Corsicana.
?Three programs are his priority.? First, to support the Rotary International Foundation.? This is the source of polio eradication, water wells and numerous national and international projects.? Second, by supporting the foundation, local clubs qualify for grants that are used here in Teague.? A project is being planned for one of these grants right now! Finally, Teague Rotary has always supported Teague ISD with Scholarships.? The Rotary district now has a scholarship fund for students that are getting vocational training but not a four-year degree.? This scholarship will be offered to Teague High School graduates later in the school year.?
?Teague Rotary invites all interested residents to join.? The club meets each Tuesday at 11:45 at the Rancho Nuevo Restaurant.? Call 254-203-4868 or talk to your favorite Rotarian for answers to any questions about our many service projects.?
