Fairfield PRCA Rodeo Set October 3-5
STATE REPRESENTATIVE BYRON COOK was one of a number of speakers at the Grand Opening of the Fairfield Career and Technical Training Center held Monday afternoon, September 30th. A project between the Fairfield Industrial Development Corporation and Navarro College, the center will provide existing and future businesses with a well-trained workforce while helping provide good paying jobs to keep the county’s young people from moving away for gainful employment. There are currently 24 students from Fairfield, Teague and Leon high schools enrolled in a Welding Technology Program at the Training Center.
Some of the biggest stars that participate in the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association?s circuit are in to Fairfield, Texas this week to try and win some of the big money at the Freestone County PRCA Rodeo this Thursday, Friday and Saturday, October 3rd - 5th.
Freestone Dodge in Fairfield is serving as the Premier sponsor of the rodeo.
This year the rodeo will feature the hilarious Ryan Litwin from Bozeman, Montana as the rodeo clown and entertainer. Cowboys and cowgirls from all over the United States will come to compete in the different events such as bare back riding, saddle bronc, bull riding, tie down roping, steer wrestling, team roping, barrel racing, and many more.
Lancaster Pro Rodeo will be helping to put this event on and providing all the livestock needed. Twenty head of stock that are on the nomination ballots for the 2013 National Finals Rodeo in December in Las Vegas will be on hand. The nationally famous Charlie Throckmorton, who has announced for the National Finals Steer Roping for the last ten years and running will be announcing this year?s rodeo, and will sure keep the crowd on their feet.
The famous Cowgirl Chicks from RFD TV, are due to perform at the rodeo showing off their skills with some super fast pace trick riding and one of a kind Roman riding acts. Events and activities will be held October 3,4, and 5, at the W.L. Moody Reunion Grounds arena in Fairfield and begin at 9 a.m. Thursday morning with slack.
There will be an Invitational Bull Riding event held Thursday night at 7:30 pm. The PRCA shows will start at 8:00 pm on Friday and Saturday nights.
The 100 degree days are behind us so make your way out to the reunion grounds this weekend and enjoyed the fall weather while watching these professional cowboys and cowgirls do what they do best.
