Sales Tax Rebate Check Shows Increase
Up Almost 50% For The Year
The City of Teague has received a check in the amount of $51,984.37 for their portion of the state sales tax rebate sent out each month by the State Comptroller?s office.
The September 2013 rebate check showed another large increase, some 41.06 percent more than the $36,851.37 check sent to the city at this time last year.
For the first nine months of 2013, the City of Teague has received checks totaling $525,190.91 an increase of 49.92 percent from last year?s total at this time of $350,308.63.
While a portion of the increase is due to the sale of beer and wine in the city that was approved by voters last year, the majority of the increase in sales tax rebates is due to increased oil and gas activity within the City of Teague, accoridng to the State Comptroller?s office.
Three quarters of all sales tax rebate checks sent to the City of Teague are deposited into the general fund for local operations and the remaining twenty-five percent of the check is deposited into the Teague Economic Development Corporation?s fund account.
The City of Fairfield received a check in the amount of $154,630.13 this month. The check is a 15.17 percent increase from the $134,023.56 check received at this time last year. So far in 2013, Fairfield has received checks totaling $1,635,239.35 a 8.07 percent increase from the $1,513.02350 received by this time last year.
The City of Wortham received a check in the amount of $11,694.57, a decrease of 15.83 percent from last year?s check at this time of $13,895.15. So far in 2013, Wortham has received checks totaling $116,139.17, an increase of less than one percent from the $115,509.90 check received last year.
The City of Streetman received a check in the amount of $3,340.68 this month. The check was 39.65 percent more than the $2,392.02 received in September 2012. So far this year, Streetman has received checks totaling $29,912.65, an increase of 6.01 percent over last years total at this time of $28,215.91.
The September sales tax allocations as a whole in Freestone County totaled $221,379.75, an increase of 18.28 percent over the $187,162.10 check received in September of 2012. For the first nine months of 2013, Freestone County cities have received checks totaling $2,306,482.08, an increase of 14.19 percent over the 2,007,057.94 received by this time last year.
State Comptroller Susan Combs sent September 2013 tax allocations of $379.2 million to Texas cities, up 3.5 percent compared to September 2012.
Cities in Limestone County received sales tax payments totaling $262,310.65 an increase of 2.27 percent from the $256,485.24 received at this time last year. For the first nine months of 2013, Limestone County has received $2,530,154.30, up 1.38 percent over the amount received during the first nine monthso f 2012.in September 2012.
Leon County cities received sales tax payments of $133,275.84, a decrease of 3.04 percent from the $137,467.02 received last year at this time. So far this year, Leon County cities have received rebates totaling $1,265,686.62, up 4.60 from the $1,209,919.54 received by this time last year.
