DONNA RAE BARBER
Donna Rae Barber, 69, of Oakwood, passed away Friday, August 2, 2013, in Palestine. Memorial services were held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 8, 2013, at Capps Memorial Chapel with Bro. Don Suits, II, pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church officiating.
Donna was born June 17, 1944 in Dallas; to parents Don Ray and Dorothy Pearl Gentry Howard. She had been a Freestone County resident for 40 years and worked as a waitress at the former Bellah?s Restaurant in Fairfield. She married Carl E. Barber on February 14, 1998 and he preceded her in death in 2005. She was a Baptist. In addition to her husband and parents she was also preceded in death by a great-grandson, Blake Shayne Musick.
Left to cherish her memory are four children, Valerie Tarrant and husband Burl of Fairfield; Vanessa Killough and husband James W. of Oakwood; Van C. (Chris) Kocher and wife Ida of Jewett; Victor Wayne Kocher of Nacogdoches; three sisters, Doris Howard and Darlene Sullivan both of Garland; Deeloyce (DeeDee) Howard of Fairfield; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

JUDSON H. (SAM) GOODWIN
Mr. Judson H. (Sam) Goodwin, age 79 of Teague, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2013, at the Teague Nursing Home with friends, family, and his team of caregivers at his side.
Sam was born on July 22, 1934, in Herman, New York to William Duane and Gladdis Goodwin. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1953-1961, and made tours in Korea and Okinawa, Japan. Mr. Goodwin was a member of the V.F.W. Post #5872 in Fairfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, one brother, two sons, PFC Sammy Lee Goodwin and Johnny H. Goodwin, and one daughter, Teresa Goodwin McCain.
Mr. Goodwin is survived by two sons, Danny D. Goodwin and Missy Bell and Stephen R. Goodwin and wife Terri all of Teague; two daughters, Patricia Goodwin Smith of Porter, and Pamela Chavez and husband Mauricio of Houston; twenty-two grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; the mother of his children, Leah Goodwin Stephens of Teague; other relatives and friends including ?Pookie? the cat, Sam?s friend to the end.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Sam?s special friends, Brooke and Micah Anderson, his friends at the Teague Nursing Home, Ginger, Stephanie, Chrissy, and all the other staff that looked out for Sam?s best interest and a special thank you to Nora Wall for her care and concern over the past few years.
The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.

HASKELL SHERELL ROBERTS
Funeral services for Mr. Haskell Sherell Roberts, 75, were held on Wednesday, August 7, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague. Rev. James Walker officiated. Interment followed the services at Wilson Chapel Cemetery near Donie.
Visitation was held on Tuesday with the family present from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Mr. Roberts passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2013, at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler. He was born in Teague on February 12, 1938. He attended schools in Donie and Freeport, Brazoria areas while growing up. Mr. Roberts served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1961 and then went to work in the energy generating field. He worked for T.P.L. and retired from T.U. in 1992 after many years as a control room operator. Mr. Roberts enjoyed music, especially blue grass, country, and Gospel, and singing at gatherings with his family. He was affiliated with the Methodist Faith.
He is survived by two sisters, June Roberts Smith of Burleson and Beverley Roberts Farris and husband Richard Sr. of Palestine; two brothers, Dennis L. Roberts and wife Carolyn of Daingerfield and W. Kenneth Roberts and wife Mammie of Teague; twelve nieces and nephews, Tanya Cerovski, Kimberly Holt, Sandra Morton, Brenda Cox, Joe Richey, Lorri Sanchez, Brian Roberts, Joanna Clark, Kelli Lee, Mike Roberts, Melanie Jeffery, and Richard Farris, Jr.; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mr. Roberts was preceded in death by his parents, E.H. and Nona Laningham Roberts; and one sister, Jimmie Richey.
