July Retail Sales Tax Rebate Increased 135 Percent

Sales tax rebate checks for the City of Teague continue to show large increases this year following last November?s election to allow the off-premise sale of beer and wine throughout the county. The city?s July 2013 rebate check was in the amount of $75,994.33, an increase of 135.43 percent over the $32,277.75 check sent to the city at this time last year.
For the first five months of 2013, the City of Teague has received checks totaling $397,002.95, an increase of 50.11 percent from last year?s total at this time of $264,466.93.
Three quarters of all sales tax rebate checks sent to the City of Teague are deposited into the general fund for local operations and the remaining twenty-five percent of the check is deposited into the Teague Economic Development Corporation?s fund account.
The City of Fairfield received a check in the amount of $145,933.16 this month. The check is a 13.60 percent increase over the $128,461.94 check received at this time last year. So far in 2013, Fairfield has received checks totaling $1,219,001.56, a 6.77 percent increase from the $1,141,696.61 received by this time in 2012.
The City of Wortham received a check in the amount of $14,653.05, an increase of 69.83 percent from last year?s check at this time of $8,627.68. So far in 2013 Wortham has received checks totaling 93,672.13, an increase of 7.50 percent from the $87,130.45 check received last year.
The City of Streetman received a check in the amount of $3,577.07 this month. The check was 24.84 percent more than the $2,865.20 received at this time last year. So far this year Streetman has received checks totaling $22,576.61, a decrease of 0.81 percent compared to last year?s check of $22,762.67.
The July sales tax allocations as a whole in Freestone County totaled $240,157.61, an increase of 39.43 percent more than the $172,232.57 received in June of 2012. For the first six months of 2013, Freestone County cities have received checks totaling $1,732,253.25, an increase of 14.26 percent over 1,516,056.66 received at this time last year.
State Comptroller Susan Combs sent July 2013 tax allocations of $578.3 million to Texas cities, up 8.1 percent compared to July 2012.
Cities in Limestone County received sales tax payments totaling $263,998.19 an increase of 1.06 percent from the $261,207.79 received at this time last year. This year Limestone County has received $1,962,410.49 up 2.31 percent from the $1,917,995.86 received in July 2012.
Leon County cities received sales tax payments of $136,021.11, an increase of 15.30 percent from the $117,964.98 received last year at this time. So far this year Leon County has received sales tax checks in the amount of $963,899.63 up 3.48 from the July 2012 rebate of $931,463.42.
Anderson County cities received sales tax payments totaling $456,161.37, down 3.91 percent from the $474,734.71 at this time one year ago. Sales tax rebates for Anderson County in 2013 have totaled $3,638,541.15 down 1.13 percent from the $3,680,435.89 received in July of 2012.
