Freestone County Livestock Sale Totals $369,000
FAIRFIELD 4-H MEMBER LOGAN TODD exhibited the Grand Champion Steer at the 2013 Freestone County Fair last week. The Grand Champion was the first animal to sell Saturday and sold to Valance Operating for a smooth $10,000.
Once again huge generosity was shown to the youth of Freestone County by the unbelieveable amount spent by livestock buyers at the 2013 Freestone County Fair and Livestock Sale held Saturday morning, July 15th.
The unofficial totals on the 130 lots that made the sale total $307,500. Each year there are always thousands of dollars added in donations and contributions that are added, which helps bring the sale total up. This year was no exception as $61,500 was added for all livestock exhibitors bringing the 2013 Livestock Sale total to $369,000. The buyers, contributors and donors are to be commended on an amazing sale, which shows the dedication of these fine citizens and businesses have for the youth in Freestone County.
The first 12 lots sold were all Grand and Reserve Champions and brought in a total of $50,600.
The Grand Champion Steer, shown by Logan Todd of Fairfield 4-H, sold to Valence Operating for $10,000. The Reserve Champion Steer, shown by Fairfield 4-H member Hallie Davidson, was sold to Buffalo Livestock Marketing for $7,000.
The Grand Champion Hog, shown by Brianne Faughn of Fairfield FFA was sold to CETA for $4,000. The Reserve Champion Hog, exhibited by Melissa Lopez of Fairfield FFA, sold to Anadarko for $3,900.
The Grand Champion Lamb, shown by Mattey Mannen of Fairfield FFA, sold to Salt Creek Ranch for $4,500 and the Reserve Champion Lamb was shown by Dylan Chandler, a member of Teague FFA, and sold to Performance Ford for $2,750.
The Grand Champion Goat, exhibited by Freestone Community 4-H member Carly Staggs, sold to Luke Wilson for $4,250. The Reserve Champion Goat was shown by Cade Staggs, of Teague FFA, and also sold to Luke Wilson for $2,750.
The Grand Champion Broilers, exhibited by Larame Stapleton, a member of Wortham FFA, sold to XTO for $3,500. The Reserve Champion Broilers were shown by Jaedyn Stapleton of Wortham FFA and sold to Nelson Propane for $3,000.
The Grand Champion Rabbits, shown by Kacie Carroll of Fairfield 4-H, sold to Texas Cars & Trucks and Fairfield Paint and Body, for $2,500. The Reserve Champion Rabbits, exhibited by Fairfield 4-H member Maeci Wilson, sold to Brookshire Brothers Fairfield & Teague and Fairfield Lions Club for $2,450.
The volume buyer for the 2013 Freestone County Livestock Sale went to Buffalo Livestock Marketing, which spent slightly over $26,000.
