Contestants Vying For County Queen Titles
It?s time again for the Freestone County Fair and Rodeo and that means it?s time to crown a new Miss Freestone County and Miss Teen Freestone County. The pageant will be held on Tuesday, June 11th, 7:00 p.m., in the Fairfield High School auditorium and will end the rein of Miss Freestone County 2012 Kristin Shaw and Miss Teen Freestone County 2012 Allie Edwards.
Serving as emcee of the pageant will be Miss Texas DeNae Couch.
Contestants will be competing in casual, western wear, and evening wear with four girls vying for Miss Freestone County and six for Miss Teen Freestone County. The public will get a preview of the contestants when they take part in the rodeo parade in downtown Fairfield on Monday, June 10th at 7:00 p.m.
The young ladies competing for the title of Miss Freestone County 2013 are as follows:
Brittnee Ransberger, age 18, is a 2012 graduate of Teague High School. She is the daughter of Bubba and April Welch and Tim and Jennifer Ransberger.
At Teague High School she has been involved in the National Honor Society, Hispanic Honor Society, Student Council, the power lifting team, SADD (student against drunk drivers). Spirit Committee, Stand for the Silent (students against bullying), and Captain of the Varsity Cheerleading squad. She is also a Suicide Awareness leader.
In her spare time Brittnee likes to volunteer in her community, spend time with friends, swimming, horseback riding, distance running and working out.
This year she went to Costa Rica to learn about their culture and way of life.
Brittnee will be starting her sophomore year at Navarro College in the fall where she will finish her basics. In May of 2014 she will attend Texas Chiropractic College in Pasadena where she will enter the Chiropractic Doctorate program.
Kourtnee Awalt, 16 years old, will be in eleventh grade in the fall at Fairfield High School. She is the daughter of Bobbye Awalt.
In school Kourtnee is involved in Band, Ag Studies, and is a Varsity Cheerleader. In her spare time she likes tumbling, piano, and is a Sunday school teacher at the Presbyterian Church of Fairfield.
In the future Kourtnee plans to go to Baylor University to get her degree in nursing and become a neonatal nurse and help sick babies.
Melissa Lopez, age 18, is a college freshman at McLennan Community College. She is the daughter of Chuck and Tammy Lopez of Fairfield.
Melissa is involved in FFA, volleyball, Beta Club, Speech Club, Science Club, Show Team and recycle team. Her hobbies include showing pigs at national levels and working to further her education. Something interesting about Melissa is that she has been able to know her great grandmother all her life.
Her plans for the future include attending McLennan Community College to study Physical Therapy then transfer to Texans Women?s College to attain her masters in Physical Therapy.
Savannah Robinson, 17 years old, will be in the 12th grade in the fall at Fairfield High School. She is the daughter of George and Regina Robinson.
At school Savannah is busy being president of her class, Student Council, Interact Club, yearbook, sports, power lifting and cheerleading. In her spare time she likes to spend time with friends and family, staying active and fit, watching movies, bowling, shopping and just generally having fun. Savannah is a finalist in power lifting.
Savannah is planning to go to college to be a nutritionist and physical trainer.
Contestants competing for the title of Miss Teen Freestone County 2013 are as follows:
Mikaela Stamper, 14 years old, is a freshman at Fairfield High School. She is the daughter of Mike Stamper and Jay and Michelle Welch.
In school Mikaela is involved in FFA, showing Beefmaster cattle and market lambs, volleyball, basketball, cheerleading, and she also plays club volleyball with Bi-Stone Volleyball Club. In her spare time Mikaela enjoys working with her heifer and lamb, texting, and going to Mike Daniels camp house to shoot. She says something interesting about her is that she can shoot an AR 15.
In the future Mikaela is planning to attend Texas A&M and become a veterinarian or Ag teacher.
Chloe Sifford, age 13, will be in 8th grade in the fall at Teague Jr. High School. She is the daughter of Shaun and Nicole Sifford.
At school Chloe is involved in playing the flute in band, volleyball, cheerleading, and honor roll. She was awarded ?All Star Cast? for two years in a row and participates in Oral Reading UIL. In her spare time Chloe loves to sing and act and is a very active member of Eighth Avenue Baptist Church Youth Group. She is a member of the Freestone Community 4-H Club and she likes to text and hang out with friends.
Something interesting about Chloe is thought she is very small for her age she doesn?t let that stop her. She has broken her back on two separate occasions but instead of limiting herself, she has used it as a stepping stone to push herself to reach her goals.
In the future Chloe would like to attend acting school one day and eventually teach theater.
Abbie Judd, 15 years old, is a junior at Fairfield High School. She is the daughter of Brent and Mandie Judd.
At school Abbie is involved in volleyball, basketball, track and softball. She is a Varsity Cheerleader, member of the Interact Club, Spanish Club and FFA. In her spare time she likes to hang out with friends and family, go to the movies and shopping and go fishing with her dad. Something interesting about her is she is related to the Judds (Naomi and Wynonna), but she says it is way down the line.
Abbie?s plans for the future include attending the University of Texas to major in Biology.
Justice Oates is 15 years old and is in the eleventh grade at Fairfield High School. She is the daughter of Steven and Kristy Oates.
At school Justice is active in power lifting, Interact Club, and FFA/4-H. She is also involved in the National Cutting Horse Association and the youth group at her church. In her spare time she loves to travel. She has been to Australia with People to People and also to Europe with the Interact Club. Something interesting about Justine is that the likes to show steers and pigs.
Justice plans to go to Blinn and then transfer to Texas State University to become a Radiology Technician.
Savannah Daniel, age 13, is in the eighth grade at Fairfield Junior High School. She is the daughter of Sonny and Jennifer Daniel.
In school Peyton is involved in piano, 4-H, Edge Youth, 4-H food challenge and volunteering. In her spare time Savannah likes showing pigs, reading, swimming, and Praise Band at church. She has a large pig collection, loves sci-fi TV, listening to music and traveling to Mt. Rushmore, Grand Canyon, and the Bahamas. Things about Savannah that are interesting is that she is the oldest of six kids, she has been to a Kiss concert, is a huge Dr. Who fan and loves classic rock.
In the future Savannah plans to attend Texas A&M University and major in Mechanical Engineering.
Savanna Thomas, 14 years old, will be in the eighth grade at Teague Junior High School in the fall. She is the daughter of David and Donna Thomas.
In school Savannah is involved in Junior FFA, Showing her lamb, volleyball and basketball. In her spare time she likes to rope, barrel race and ride horses. The interesting thing about Savannah is that she is full of energy.
Her future plans are to attend Texas A&M to become a veterinarian.
