Search For New EDC Secretary Put Off
Until After City Council Election
The search for a new Executive Director for the Teague Economic Development Corporation has been put on hold until after the City Council election is held this Saturday and the council meets to appoint new members from the council to the board.
The action became necessary following the dismissal of Brienne Ashmore Van de Way as the EDC Executive Director. Van de Way was reportedly put on a routine 90 day probation period when hired and was recently terminated by the EDC Board of Directors.
Board President Sherrie Noland says the EDC will be looking for direction from the new council once it is seated. The EDC board is comprised of three city council members and four members of the public. The EDC was placed under the direction of City Administrator Vince DiMaggio in December of last year, but City Council members rescinded that motion during last month?s council meeting following DiMaggio?s resignation as City Administrator.
The EDC?s next meeting will be held at 12 noon on Monday, May 20th at City Hall. The Teague City Council will meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21 at City Hall.
