Brian Bowers Seeking Re-Election To TISD Board
My name is Brian D. Bowers and I earnestly solicit your vote to re-elect me to the Teague Independent School District Board of Trustees. I was born in Teague General Hospital and with the exception of about eight years in the 1990?s, I have lived my entire life in Teague, Texas. I graduated from Teague High School with the Class of 1990, attended Tyler Jr. College and the University of Texas at Austin before graduating from the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service in 1997. I have owned and operated Bowers Funeral Home in Teague and Ricks-Bowers Funeral Home in Jewett since August of 2001.
I have made community service part of my life. I am a member and past president of the Teague Rotary Club, member and past Master of Boggy Masonic Lodge #739, member of Karem Shrine in Waco, member and past president of the Teague Chamber of Commerce, past president of the Teague Ex-Students Association, and a charter member and past president of the Lion Pride Booster Club. I have and will continue to support numerous youth and community projects through sponsorships as well as my time. My wife, Julie, and our sons, Bo & Blake, attend First Baptist Church in Teague where I am active in choir and pre-teen youth activities on Wednesday nights.
I have served on the board as the Place 2 member for the past three years. During my first term, I have been a part of overseeing the completion on our new 6th-12th grade campus facility, complete renovation and upgrades to our athletic complex, sports fields, vocational classrooms, animal barn, roads, and parking.
TISD has a tradition of excellence. I am the third generation Bowers to graduate from THS and I will forever bleed orange. You may find some with as much school pride as I have, but you will not find anyone with more.
I recognize that our school is not perfect. TISD is, in my Lion Pride mind, the flagship of all area schools, but we do have all the issues neighboring schools of our size have. In my first term, I have had to make decisions on some difficult and sometimes unpleasant issues. I expect to be faced with similar tasks in the future, if re-elected. With easy or difficult decisions, I will always vote for what I believe is best for the students of our district first.
The State of Texas sets guidelines for the role of a school board member. Managing day to day activities of the school is not one of them. Overseeing the finances, facilities, and evaluating the superintendent is the main three jobs of a trustee. I believe our current board, myself included, has done well at that duty. Our board has recently completed the very important task of hiring a new superintendent. Mr. Ned Burns has served as superintendent for eleven years, but is retiring in June. I believe we have selected an excellent leader of our district in Dr. Nate Carman and I look forward to being a part of the process as he leads our school from ?good? to ?great."
I ask for your vote and continued support in the May 2013 election.

Rasbeary Is Candidate For City Council, Place 2
My name is Ron Rasbeary, and I am running for the position of Teague City Council, Place 2, in the May 11, 2013 election.
I moved to Fairfield, Texas in 1984, and resided there until I met and married my wife, Jackie Wilson Rasbeary, a longtime resident of Teague, in November of 1988. We have resided in Teague or the Teague area since that time. We are the parents of four children, two of which attended and graduated from Teague ISD. We have fifteen grandchildren, one deceased grandson, and a new grandbaby on the way. One of our granddaughters currently attends Teague ISD, and beginning with the new school year in 2013, we will have two of our grandchildren moving to this area to also attend the Teague ISD.
I have been an employee of BNSF Railway since 1993. My wife and I are Christians and members of 8th Avenue Baptist church. I am on the maintenance Committee at 8th Avenue and a member of Willing Harvesters Sunday School Class. I am a former member of the Teague City Council, in an appointed position, and a former member of the Teague EDC.
I was asked what my ?agenda? would be if elected to the position of Teague City Council, Place 2. My reply is that I will work for you, the citizens of Teague, to see that our City will thrive and grow in every aspect. I want to see new industry, new businesses, better facilities for our children to participate in sports such as baseball, soccer, basketball, and other events. I want to see our City Parks facilitate family gatherings such as family reunions, art shows, music events, as well as other events, by providing updated and enclosed facilities. I want our City to be financially stable and to see growth in revenue and to realize a surplus in funds, and grant monies that will be used toward the improvements of our water treatment plants, our streets, and our public utilities in every area of our community. I realize this cannot be accomplished overnight, but I would like to see strides being made toward obtaining these goals. My family, my home, and my love for this City are my reasons for seeking this position on the Teague City Council.
I am ?COMMITTED TO THE CITY AND DEDICATED TO PROGRESS? and will do my best to achieve the goals that I know will make Teague a City to be proud of and a place to want to live.
Early voting starts April 29th and Election Day is May 11th. I would greatly appreciate your vote in helping me to accomplish my ?agenda? for our City.
