Lewis Randle has been cooking great barbecue for approximately 30 years. He owns Mr. Man Bar-B-Que, a little barbecue hut that he sells his wonderful smoked meat from on the corner of Cedar Street and 4th Avenue. He offers Sausage, Hot Links, Brisket, Ribs, Chicken, Sandwiches and Wrap Arounds, Beans, Potato Salad, Cole Slaw, Pickles, Onions, Chips and Sodas. Chicken needs to be pre-ordered several days prior to pick-up.
Lewis Randle grew up in Teague and graduated from Teague High School in 1978. He went to work for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and retired from TDCJ recently. ?I?ve always loved to barbecue and cook so when I retired I decided that I might as well do what I love,? said Randle. He opened up his place on the corner in November 2012 and shortly after that he had a serious automobile accident and had to stop for a while to heal. ?I couldn?t hardly breathe and a sneeze almost killed me. I thank God that I?m well now,? he said. He reopened in late March 2013.
Mr. Randle has three children and is a very proud grandfather. His oldest son, Chris Wright, works for the City of Teague in the Water Department. He and his wife Tequilla, who works for Mexia State Supported Living Center, have three girls: Deandra who is 15, Kristian who is 12, and Megan who is 10. The girls attend Teague schools. Lewis Randle is a longtime member of the Westside Church of Christ.
Lewis Randle will cater small parties of 10 to 50 people. ?This is my passion, what I love to do. Hopefully I will be cooking barbecue for the next 20 years and maybe my son will join me,? said Randle.
