TISD Board Names Superintendent Finalist
The Teague Independent School District (ISD) Board of Trustees, at a special meeting on April 8, 2013, named Nate Carman, Ed. D., of Pine Tree ISD, as sole finalist for superintendent.? By law, the Board must now wait 21 days before voting to hire Carman.? Carman is slated to replace retiring Superintendent Ned Burns.
The Board has followed a lengthy process in determining the finalist.? In January, the Board hired Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Executive Search Services to direct the search.? TASB consultants met with staff and community groups February 21st to discuss desired characteristics of the new superintendent.?The profile developed from these meetings was the yardstick used by the Board and consultants in evaluating the applicants for the position.
The Board selected six applicants for initial interviews.? One applicant was invited back for a second interview.? With the second round interview completed, a committee of the Board visited Pine Tree ISD and reported back to the Board.? The Board is scheduled to vote to offer a contract to Carman at the end of this month.
Carman currently serves as assistant superintendent in Pine Tree ISD; he oversees the curriculum, instruction, and assessment department of the approximately 4,700 student district.
